The Wall of Hope
Description:
The Wall of Hope was a community art project developed by The Community Cancer Center in Normal, IL. The overall theme of the project was hope, and professional artists, art students, volunteers, patients and family members were all invited to participate. I was able to help by continuing a painting that was started by a caregiver of a patient at the center. I also gave some guidance to another patient about how she should approach perspective in her painting. Below is a link to an article on the project that mentions me. Rationale: My volunteer experience at The Community Cancer Center shows my efforts to develop my teaching skills in unique settings and to stay active in the community. It also shows my ability to apply my artistic knowledge and my teaching skills to assist a patient with perspective. Evidence: |

I worked with children in small groups and one-on-one as they created their art projects. Rationale: My volunteer experiences at The Boys and Girls Club demonstrate my ability to apply my current knowledge of child development, specific to visual arts, when assisting children with their art projects, and it shows my efforts to grow as an educator. |
